Research has shown that our expectations of aging, as well as our lifestyle choices, have more to do with what we experience than the actual process of aging. If not, then everyone would respond to the aging process the same, yet we witness dramatic differences. Establishing the intention to adopt age-positive expectations and behaviors, such as learning new skills and engaging in novel activities, enhances our ability to flourish on our aging journey. In addition, creating a cocoon of positive expectancy for ourselves by surrounding ourselves with ideas and people who share our positive intentions strengthens our optimism.
